Heritage Tiling offers a pre-contract consultancy to give advice on the need for possible works on walls & floors on listed buildings.
Often this aspect of a building is left until too late in the contract if a listed building has tiles on the walls or floors e.g. Victorian tiling either glazed wall tiles or
geometric & encaustic tiles or possibly a fine mosaic tiled floor then these are also part of the listing and any damage to those either intentionally or
otherwise would be deemed criminal and as such is very serious.
Sadly it is often the case that when quoting for the restoration / replacement of Victorian wall tiles or
Victorian geometric floor tiles or the highly decorated Victorian encaustic tiles the price to cover these elements is so badly
underestimated that this aspect of the building is not finished properly or to a poor standard.
When it comes to Victorian or older mosaic tiling then the figure quoted is so wide of the mark that frequently this part of the building ends up
being covered as a nod to conserving the mosaic.
We will give as close an indication of the true costs before quotes are sent in that way if grants are available they may be
applied for at the correct time rather than in retrospect .
We are also available to provide onsite consultancy to set out or provide information on the correct aspects of restoring a tile scheme.
We can also provide training to tilers who have sufficient experience in tiling but need some intensive training to be able to lay a geometric floor.
