VITTOZ PARTNERSHIP
Chartered Architects Design Consultants
We have used the services of Heritage Tiling on a number of projects, of varying size and complexity, over a period of about four years. On all occasions, we have found them to be a conscientious and skilled team, working as they do in a highly specialised field, usually at a critical and highly sensitive stage in any contract.
Under such circumstances, we have found Mr. Sinnott's advice on Encaustic floors to be of great assistance, both in the refurbishment of existing traditional tiling, and in the design of new layouts. He has restored for us a very handsome Victorian geometric floor, intelligently taking up the more damaged parts, and relaying the original border around a recessed matwell etc. Thereby liberating sufficient spare tiles for patch repairs elsewhere on the same floor.
He has also laid a completely new floor to our computer generated design, in reproduction tiles, giving us his very useful input at the design stage, which meant that the floor was subsequently laid between other trades in record time.
We have also completed a number of kitchen and bathroom projects, in some cases where the project budget limited resources; we found Mr. Sinnott to be equally co-operative and resourceful under such circumstances.
With regard to mural and mosaic work, Mr. Sinnott designed and executed for us a most striking mural which was carried out under the added pressure of a television crew, when we were renovating a Victorian house for Granada's Housestyle programme.
Yours sincerely,

Mosaic Floor & Wall Tiling Restoration
Heritage Tiling and Restoration Company have recently restored the mosaic floor and wall tiling, as part of a larger restoration scheme to Ashton Central Library, an impressive grade 2 listed building. Their work was carried out efficiently and to a high conservation standard.
In February this year, Heritage Tiling were invited to outline their work as part of a seminar on 'Specialist Contractors' which was held for the Greater Manchester Conservation Officers Group and other interested parties. The seminar included a visit to the restoration work carried out at the Library and that carried out by Heritage Tiling, and Restoration was well received by the Group and considered of a high standard.
Yours faithfully,
T.L. McBurney (for Borough Planning Officer)
Restoration of Mosaic Floor and Wall Tiling to Ashton Central Library, Old Street, Ashton-under-Lyne
Heritage Tiling and Restoration Company have recently completed the restoration of the fine mosaic floors and wall tiling at Ashton Central Library, a Grade 2 Listed Building constructed in 1893. These works had to be carried out in very difficult circumstances as a £1.2 million internal refurbishment, contract was run concurrently. In order to ensure an appropriate working environment, Mr.Sinnott and his team willingly worked during the night hours. Their work was carried out to a high standard within the time allotted and to my complete satisfaction. I would have no hesitation in recommending Heritage Tiling and Restoration Company for future works.
Yours faithfully,

Steve Sinnott, his partner mark Sands, and their assistant have recently spent 3 days cleaning and sealing the stone floors at my house which had suffered several months of builders grime. We are delighted with the results and would recommend the team to anyone contemplating a restoration of this kind.
Steve, Mark and their assistant Steve were professional, friendly, and hard working and treat property with the greatest of respect. I would not hesitate in using their services again.
We have had experience of other so called restorers whose approach was to sand blast, whereas Steve and his colleagues use non solvent based materials and intensive hand scrubbing, consequently no damage to decoration or furnishings occur.

Ref: The Restoration of the Mosaics in the parish Church of St Thomas, Douglas, Diocese of Sodor and Man (isle of Man)
In the Chancel of the Church are some very fine mosaics dating back to about 1930, These depict a full size mosaic of St Thomas holding the Church in his arms. Above him is a circular mosaic of the motif of St Thomas - the Set Square and Spear; in the lower one is another circular mosaic of an Arab Sailing Boat set upon the seas. To the right and left of the upper motif in the same size circles are the Alpha and Omega. The Mosaics are composed of tiny pieces of Venetian Glass. These mosaics are set in Italian Marble which continues in the aisles of the Church.
Over the years the Mosaics had been badly damaged, especially the figure of St Thomas, where the face had been completely destroyed. In various parts of the Church the marble had been damaged also having been chipped, and had lost its sheen.
The Heritage Tiling and Restoration Co. were contracted to carry out the work of restoration of the mosaics. The nature of the work required great patience, as well as some artistic ability in restoring the face of St Thomas, for which no photographs had ever been preserved. This work was conscientiously carried out by Mr Steve Sinnott of the company. The result was a remarkable transformation of the Chancel of the Church as he went beyond the terms of the contract in restoring the marble in the Chancel, and cleaning the Mosaic of Grape Vines and Sheaves of Wheat around the Altar. A considerable amount of the chipped marble was also repaired in the Aisles.
The work was thorough and to a very high standard of excellence. Cleanliness and care were the hallmarks of all that was done. There was never any need to follow up and tidy any-thing at the end of each day, there was never any sign of irreverence for the Church which was in all respects considered as a place of worship.
Although working to an agreed contract Mr Sinnott saw his work as much more then that. He saw it as a labour of love for God's House, and this pervaded all his quailities of workmanship. Added to this he freely gave advice for the cleaning and preserving of the mosaics and marble.
We would have no hesitation in recommending him to others - he is a highly skilled craftsman devoted to a high degree of excellence in his work - and we would gladly employ his services again in the future. In fact we are intending to do this in the near future.
Respectfully submitted

May I take this opportunity to thank both you and Mark for the excellent work in creating a tiled floor for our hallway. The floor base was nowhere near perfect and yet you have managed Within your time and estimate to create a lasting impression by leaving us a floor to be proud of and in keeping with the rest of the house. We have appreciated your friendly and co-operative nature from the original estimate through to a completed job.
The creation of the tile patterns was based on our vague ideas and yet interpreted well to a successful finished product. I would gladly recommend you to anyone contemplating similar work.
Thank you once again for an excellent job.
Yours sincerely,
Graham Farrington
